This lovely case is in remarkable condition considering it is over 100 years old!
Made by top end leather goods manufacturers Drew and Company of Leadenhall St, London (1888 – 1914) this tan pigskin leather ladies overnight/weekend case has fully working cast brass ‘English Lever’ locks which snap open and shut with a pleasingly solid action. There are no initials on the case and it retains its original leather and brass handle.
There are a few small nibbles in the leather but nothing that spoils the look.
The internal lining is in good condition and in full working order including the elastic tape holding the pockets closed. There are a couple of very faint rust marks (see image) but they don’t detract from the great look of this piece.
It even has its original canvas protective outer sheath, which is showing signs of wear but it is amazing that the two items are still together after all these years! See images
Samuel Summers Drew founded the firm in around 1844 and also had outlets in Piccadilly, London and Brighton.
